FITC Amsterdam: my personal Schedule

Finally my finals are finished so I have some more time to make some interesting posts! :) FITC released their schedule and here is an overview of the sessions I’d like to attend.

Sunday Feb 24th
Papervision 3D 2.0 – Workshop

Monday Feb 25th
09:00 – 10:00 | Adobe Keynote (Mike Downey)
10:15 – 11:15 | Papervision 3D: a new multiplayer experience (John Grden )
11:30 – 12:30 | Data Visualisation with Flex and AIR ( Nicolas Lierman)
13:30 – 14:30 | From Screen to Space: interactive experiences (Nikolai Cornell)
14:45 – 15:45 | Kaboom! Flash pyrotechnics and other particle effects (Seb Lee-Delisle)
16:00 – 17:00 | Building RED5 Applications (Chris Allen)
07:15 – 18:15 | New Works (Joshua Davis)

Tuesday Feb 26th
09:00 – 10:00 | Play with pixels, bitmap manipulation with flash (Koen De Weggheleire)
10:15 – 11:15 | The circle (Jared Tarbell)
11:30 – 12:30 | Do the right thing. Do the thing right ( Robert L Peters)
13:30 – 14:30 | We do it ’cause we love it (Niko Stumpo)
14:45 – 15:45 | Flash 2D & 3D effects (Ralph Hauwert)
16:00 – 17:00 |Flash now and the future(Serge Jespers)
17:15 – 18:15 | Beyond the knowledge: the art of playing (Erik Natzke)

For now that’s my rough schedule but it can change at runtime ;) As you might notice I’m going to see Nicolas Lierman;. Really excited bout it not just because of the session but also because he might become my tutor for my internship. Within a few weeks I’m starting it @Boulevart. I’m not sure either I’m going for flex or flash ( or both maybe ) but I’m sure it is going to be a blast!

I’m also going to see Koen De Weggheleire. He has succesfully teached me Object Oriented Programming with AS3 and the photoshop basics in the past ( Yeah indeed!! Koen gave Photoshop sessions ^^ ) . Funny actually that I’m paying now to see hem when I’ve already had 12 sessions for free this year. I’m really hoping he saves the best for last.

Hope to see you guys there! Using the FITC Mobile Application of course! I’m working on it as we speak. Just finished the navigation of the app (along with the design and branding etc.. ) And now I’m starting to implement the content! Flash Lite though is quite stressfull. No errors on the device central but when I run it on my mobile I get strange errors: ”problem with flash content: 9″ => When i look up this error I get the following: ”no error code available”. Let’s hope I can finish it without any bugs !

  2. Sorry,.. found it myself:

    The solution for that is calculateDropIndex()
    example to highlight the drag-over-item:

    private function dragOverHandler(event:DragEvent):void {
    var grid:DataGrid = DataGrid(event.currentTarget);
    var index:int = grid.calculateDropIndex(event);
    if (index == grid.dataProvider.length) {
    grid.selectedIndex = -1;
    return;
    }
    grid.selectedIndex = index;
    }
